Instrumental Music Center's 8-Week Group Guitar Course: From Basics to Jamming with Oliver Dewey Embark on an exciting musical journey with our 8-week group guitar course designed for beginners and intermediate players alike. This comprehensive program covers all essential aspects of guitar playing, fostering a supportive community of fellow musicians. By the end of the course, you'll have the confidence and skills to continue your guitar journey with passion and purpose. ----- Group Guitar Class Syllabus: Week 1 - January 28th: Fundamentals of Guitar (tuning, vocab, posture, basic techniques, different kinds of guitars, etc.) Week 2 - February 4th: Lead Playing (basic melodies, riffs, scales, reading tab/sheet music, etc.) Week 3 - February 11th: Rhythm Playing (“Cowboy Chords”, strumming patterns, barre chords, keeping steady time, singing and playing, etc.) Week 4 - February 18th: Playing Songs (how to learn chords/melody of a song, playing songs together vs solo vs backing tracks, pick songs for workshop, etc.) Week 5 - February 25th: Guitar Theory/Improv (how to improvise using scales, finding solid phrases and melodies, group playing, etc.) Week 6 - March 4th: Fingerstyle (Using fingers instead of pick, different patterns for rhythm and lead playing, guitar as a solo instrument, etc.) Week 7 – March 11th: Song Workshop (sectional type day, individual attention and questions answered, group playing, etc.) Week 8 – March 18th: Jam/Future Study (open mic, group playing, next steps and additional resources to keep learning, etc.) ----- Class fees are non-refundable
