On the 10th Anniversary of their introduction, the Custom Z saxophones have been reexamined from neck to bell. Since the Custom Z was developed in 2003, the technology, craftsmanship and specifications of the Custom Z series have continued to improve to fulfill the needs of the highest level musicians.
YAS-82Z Neck
The wide bore taper of the V1 neck provides a free-blowing feel and the greatest possible flexibility.

The nickel silver custom style neck receiver provides a condensed tone and good response with a high rigidity. It has the flexibility to choose between the necks designed for the Custom Z and Custom EX Yamaha saxophones (sold separately).

The octave key has a unique new ball joint design for smoother, quicker action. The new neck receiver improves the tonal resonance.
62 shape with custom brass

One-piece bell
Crafsmen shape the bell from a sheet of brass with a hammer. This adds a unity to the body and makes the intonation in middle to lower range smoother. It also has a solid tone.
82Z style (AS, TS)
The Custom Z saxophone features a ‘anemone’ engraving design which is hand engraved on every instrument. Custom Z logo is the proof of craftmanship.

Separate style key guard
The separate key guards feature adjustable screw cap stoppers for professional-style technical adjustments.
Without center bow
Removing the center bow improves responses without affecting the quality of sound.
Improved low B-C# connection
An improved mechanism from low B-C# connection ensures the consistent closing of the low C# key and promotes a clear response from notes in the low range of the instrument.
Without F# key (WOF option)
High F# key is a standard equipment of modern saxphones. Wihout F# key option removes F# key, which produces the sound similar to the vintage saxophones.
