In addition to full sets of either Spirocore or Larsen strings, another popular option among cellists is to mix the C and G strings of Spirocore with the D and A strings of Larsen.
 
This particular combination of Tungsten-wound Spirocore and Larsen Solo is an exceptionally powerful set of strings, capable of enormous projection. The warmer Larsen strings compliment the bright Spirocore, resulting in an a well-balanced sound throughout the range of the cello.
 
For a softer sound, conducive to greater blending, sets including Larsen (medium gauge) upper strings or Spirocore (silver-wound) lower strings (or both) will tone down the piercing brilliance of each respective register.
